Topix.net, an online news aggregator, just received $15M in additional investment from three newspaper groups (Gannett, Tribune, McClatchy.)
It’s good to see the shift in focus coming back to news. I always thought papers spent too much attention securing classified advertising and not enough securing news readership.
It’s no stretch to assume that the rise of the blog is acting as the primary catalyst for the shift. In the 90’s it was monster, ebay and realtor.com sparking the Classified Ventures investments.
